Happy New Year!

Since the publication of our last ROWS newsletter in December 2006, many of us gathered at the lovely Princess Anne Country Club to celebrate our annual Christmas Dinner Dance, which consisted of a splendid group of ROWS and MOAA members and their guests. It was a delight to see everyone in formal attire, dining, conversing, and “kicking up their heels” in celebration of the holidays.,  As always, the food was superb.  A heartfelt thanks to all who helped plan this elegant event!

In January, we held our monthly luncheon with Staci Martin, District Program Specialist for Virginia State Parks as our featured presenter.  Staci offered us a program which included a schedule of local events in connection with the 400th anniversary of the “First Landing,” which will be commemorated in April 2007.  Her program was fascinating, to say the least.,  Many thanks to all who helped plan for this special event.

We are looking forward to the next luncheon on February 8, 2007 at the Cavalier Country Club when the Old Dominion Barbershop Quartet will entertain us with some wonderful and familiar tunes.  Please join us and bring your sweethearts too.

The time has come for us to establish a Nominating Committee that will consist of three members who will deal with the election of ROWS officers for the coming year.  Our by-laws state that these three members will consist of one individual from the current Board of Directors as well as two individuals who will be elected by the membership at the February luncheon.  This three-person committee will meet after the February Luncheon and select a chairmen.  Next, members for each office must be selected by this committee.  The new slate will be presented at the March meeting.

Please review our by-laws in your membership booklet under Article V111, pg. 45, and take this matter into serious consideration.  ROWS serves an important function to its members.  Without your active participation, our Society cannot be sustained.

Warm regards and very best wishes for a healthy and happy 2007.
