The Retired Officers’ Wives Society (ROWS) is an organization
for wives and widows of retired commissioned or warrant officers, and women
who are retired military officers of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine
Corps, Coast Guard, NOAA and Public Health Services. Divorced wives
who retain their ID cards under the uniformed Services Former Spouses Protection
Act are also eligible for membership.

ROWS was founded in 1973, weaving the threads of patriotism,
service and fellowship into the tapestry of a new organization. ROWS
has members, drawn from all the cities in Hampton Roads, with a few from
out of state.

Dues are $18.00 annually—a great bargain! Our fiscal
year is from June 1 through May 31. In order to have your name in
the year book your dues must be paid by June 30.

ROWS members enjoy monthly luncheons and receive a
monthly newsletter- The Rambling Rows- plus an annual yearbook listing
members and events.

Activities include golf, bridge groups, and special
trips and activities.

Programs include: A Fall and Spring Fashion Show, musical
groups, speakers and we especially enjoy a Holiday dinner dance at the
Princess Anne Country Club.

Membership Requirements
Section 1: Regular Membership shall be open to:
(a) wives and widows of retired commissioned or warrant officers
and to retired women officers of the United States Army, Navy, Air Force,
Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Public Health Service and National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration.
(b) Widows of officers (eligible for retirement) who died on active
duty,
(c) A divorced wife who retains her I.D. card under the Uniformed
Services Former Spouses Protection Act.
(d) Once the criteria for membership have been met, the member is a
member for life so long as her dues are current.
(e) The membership roster contained in the Yearbook is never to
be used for commercial purposes. |
